Those Pounding Headaches
Many of my clients have been complaining of headaches recently and so I thought I'd do a little research for you all! Here's a helpful list of effective things you can do if you find yourself with headaches. First, is to be sure that you're getting 8-10 glasses of water each day! Next:
- Tension headaches--relieve the tension with regular massage, warm heat, slow stretching and breathing for your neck, shoulders, and arms. Eliminate the caffeine in your diet and take Calcium-Magnesium which decreases muscle tension in your body. Study your posture, especially you ergonomics while sitting at the PC or while talking on the phone, to find the source of your tension.
- Sinus headaches--can often be triggerd by a certain food. Try eliminating sugar, wheat, dairy, and corn products and see how your body reacts. Warm towels, eucalyptus oil, and daily nasal 'irrigation' brings a lot of relief too. The powerful herb Alfalfa decreases inflammation which can dramatically help keep a headache away.
- Migraine headaches--keep a journal of what triggers your migraines. Often chocolate, stress, menstrual cycles, red wine, nitrates (like bacon and other processed meats), and MSG can start an intense and nauseous experience. Engage in daily relaxing activities, increase your regular aerobic exercise which increases circulation and seratonin in your body, and consider adding high quality protein and B-Complex to your diet.
