There Goes My Back, Again!
Is this a common problem for you? It's possible to live pain free! Here are some strategies that should help out:
- Use proper posture! For example, lift with your legs instead of bending at the waist. Sit down on a chair to put on your socks instead of bending at the waist. Remember to sit up straight instead of slumping at the dinner table.
- Think about using a exercise ball for a chair. Sitting on a ball forces us to use proper posture and also recruits many other core muscles as stabilizers.
- Improve your back side by improving your front side! Carrying extra weight around your mid-section pulls on our back's natural curve and forces our lower back muscles to work extra hard. A healthy diet with regular exercise helps to keep your weight in check.
- A daily routine of stretching, & strengthening helps to keep your back strong, yet flexible.
- Use ice immediately after the injury to keep the inflammation down; use heat the day after to keep the circulation moving.
- Therapeutic massage is also a winner when it comes to relieving back pain :-)
