Pregnancy Bliss

Pregnancy is a wonderful time for a woman--usually.  Certainly the resulting baby in the parents' arms is miraculous, but the road to child birth can be a bumpy one unless the mother-to-be takes superb care of herself--especially the first and last trimesters!  Here are some very important tips for prenatal nutrition, prenatal massage, and prenatal "trouble shooting" (including morning sickness).

Pre-Natal Nutrition                                                                                      Back to Top
Pregnancy demands optimum nutrition for the health of both the mother-to-be and the developing child.  Because nature favors the fetus, whatever nutrients the fetus requires will be taken from the mother.  Just consider a few of the increased nutritional demands created by a full-term pregnancy:

These are the specific Shaklee's supplements that provide critical nutrients for every pregnant woman.  Each of these links go to the same webpage so that you can get more info about each product, read their labels, and order each product:
1.) Shaklee's Multivitamin called VitaLea
2.) Shaklee Iron + C
3.) Shaklee B-Complex
4.) Shaklee's Calcium called Osteomatrix
5.) high quality protein Shaklee's Meal Shakes

Advantages of using Shaklee's supplements:

Pre-Natal Massage                                                                                      Back to Top

"Massage has many scientifically proven health benefits such as stimulating the blood and lymph systems, thereby increasing immunity and removal of toxins, stabilizing hormonal levels, and adding tone and flexibility to muscles -- all of which enhance the health of both you and your baby. As pregnancy progresses, your body adjusts to a changing alignment caused by the baby's increasing weight. This puts strain on your back and legs and increases stress on weight-bearing joints. Massage increases flexibility, enhancing the ability to carry this extra weight while also relieving aches and pains, leg cramps and muscle spasms. The effects of relaxation and tension release add to improvement in the physical state of muscles and joints, and assist in balancing emotions.

"Recent studies from the Touch Research Institute (TRI) in Miami, Fla., indicates that pregnancy massage provides more than just symptom relief for the mother. A group of 26 pregnant women were given either massage or relaxation therapy during a five-week study. In addition to experiencing a reduction in symptoms of anxiety, stress, sleep problems and back pain, the massage group had fewer complications in their delivery. Their newborns also had fewer postnatal complications. Another TRI study reported massage during labor resulted in shorter labor times for the mothers, shorter hospital stays and less postpartum depression."

Pre-Natal Trouble Shooting                                                                     Back to Top
Morning Sickness~
I have helped a lot of mothers-to-be to stop their morning sickness simply by recommending the following Shaklee vitamins and supplements.  These are all-natural, effective and safe to use.  Read about why Shaklee's vitamins are so much better and please note that Shaklee has a 100% unconditional gurantee.  The 5 key supplements to stop morning sickness are the following.  Each of these links go to the same webpage so that you can get more info about each product, read their labels, and order each product:

1.) Shaklee's Multivitamin called VitaLea (vs. prescription prenatals that can feel like morning sickness), and
2.) plenty of Shaklee Iron + C because the baby takes it from the Mother and leaves nothing for her,
3.) lots of Shaklee B-Complex (I took about 4-6 per day),
4.) more Shaklee's Calcium called Osteomatrix since the baby takes all that you have!
5.) Shaklee's Meal Shakes are very yummy and convenient so that you can ingest high quality protein from the time you get up to the time you go to bed.

In addition, minor nausea, queasiness, and even acid reflux, just like all the books and magazines will warn you, can be relieved with Shaklee's peppermint-ginger tablet called Stomach Soothing Complex dissolved as a cold or hot tea.

Also, "About six weeks ago my 3 yr. old started coming down with a cold, so I started giving him Optiflora everyday. I decided that it was too close to the holidays to be sick, so I started taking Optiflora daily as well. We were taking it at night before we went to bed.  The rest of that week I noticed I was not nauseous in the mornings. I was in my third month of pregnancy and became concerned. I had been so nauseous and all the sudden it stopped. I didn't think about the Optiflora until that Friday, I forgot to take it! Saturday morning was not good, to say the least. My husband with his strange sense of humor, peeked into the bathroom saying, "This is good news!" All the sudden it dawned on me! I didn't take the Optiflora the night before!  It has truly been a miracle cure for me!!! If I forget to take it, as was the case while traveling so much during the holidays, my mornings aren't good. But when I remember to take it, I am fine.  Not one bit nauseous. Just thought you'd like to pass this one on." from Beth B.

Constipation~
Fairly high levels of Herb Lax are recommended to assist with poor elimination.  Also to note is that half of all toxemias are caused by poor elimination. As a woman's body starts to soften for delivery, joints are actually softened up, so when delivery starts, the baby's head can pass more easily. All organs are pushed out. Hormones soften the intestinal tract too. It becomes jammed up and pressured and has more difficulty eliminating toxins. --Judy Decker, Lay Midwife Fairview, PA

Boating & Swelling~
Using Shaklee Alfalfa is a natural diuretic--perfect for the last trimester!  It minimizes water retention and encourages only minimal blood loss at delivery!

Also, lots of movement will help bring down any swelling.  Rotating the ankles, walking around the block, and receiving massage all help to eliminate swelling.

Leg Cramps~
3 or 4 Shaklee's Calcium before bedtime establishes better sleep and prevents leg cramps. The only leg cramps I got (and they were VERY painfully intense) were on the evenings when I skimped on the calcium.

Infertility~
Coming soon, but email me if you can't wait!

A note from Shaklee’s Home Office about pre-natal nutrition~
All the nutrients needed to meet the U.S. RDA for pregnant and lactating women are available in existing Shaklee supplements. With the approval of the obstetrician, Shaklee Vita-Lea, Iron Plus C, B-Complex, and Calcium Magnesium can offer an excellent prenatal supplement program for pregnant women.

Moreover, Meal Shakes and Carbo-Crunch Bars could be added as convenient snacks (not meal replacements) to make sure the extra calories needed during pregnancy are packed with good health and nutrition. We suggest a basic plan that includes:

2 Vita-Lea tablets,
1 Calcium supplement,
1 Iron Plus C,
1 B-Complex,
and of course, a balanced diet to help support a healthy pregnancy.

While the herbal products, Optiflora, Garlic, Stomach Smoothing Complex, Shaklee Defend and Resist, and Gentle Sleep Complex, should be fine for women to take during pregnancy, our Health Sciences personnel recommend these products be taken with the approval of the attending physician. In the case of Herb-Lax, and Moodlift, again we recommend expectant mothers seek the advice of a obstetrician also, before using these products.
